This weekend, members of the Redlands Police Department took part in the Redlands 2nd Annual Juneteenth celebration at Israel Beal Park. Juneteenth is the remembrance of the date on or about June 15 that signifies the end of slavery and the delay it took to actually notify the former slaves of its end. The park is named after Redlands pioneer and former slave Israel Beal. This event celebrates the diversity of our community. The RPOA brought out their BBQ trailer to grill up some food for the event, and a band played for those in attendance. Donated gifts were given out to some children as well. It was a great time held by all! (First photo credit Frank Perez, Press Enterprise)
